If your looking for Chicago, Kentucky is not for you.

Louisville has a big city feel similar to Indianapolis, Nashville, Columbus, St. Louis, etc., but not a "mega city" feel like you will find in NYC or Chicago.

Louisville is definitely a growing town. Its much more urban then anywhere else in the state, and it has a lot of the same conveniences that Indy/Nashville offer, and its a college town similar to Columbus.

Lexington is much smaller then Louisville, about 1/3 to be more precise. Lexington has a similar feel to a city like Madison, WI or perhaps Knoxville, TN (minus the mountains). Lexington is probably a more "friendly" town, and it offers life at a slower pace.

My advice is to check out both cities for yourself and see what you think.

No doubt Louisville is by far the most urban area of Kentucky. But 10 million people live in the Chicago area. I mean, come on. If you want to compare Louisville to any city in Chicagoland, compare it to Milwaukee.
