I'm planning ahead for day trips once warm weather graces us with its return on a regular basis. I'm looking for ideas in the Eastern, Central and South Central Kentucky area, although a little bleedover into Northern Tennessee would be acceptable.

Some towns I've thought of are Middlesboro, Danville (Constitution Sqaure), Boonesboro, Hodgenville (Lincoln's birthplace) and Glasgow. Some attractions I am thinking of is the Bluegrass Railway Museum and the Jefferson Davis Monument.

What other places/towns/attractions should I be considering?

If you like hiking or nature the Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge is good. Natural bridge also has a nature center.

Raven Run has a nature center.
Fort Harrod is GREAT. The fort is very educational, and there is a marvelous old osage orange tree outside the walls.
Berea is beautiful. The craft shops, antique shops, beautiful hills, and Boone Tavern are highlights.
Maysville is a beautiful town with antique shops and a lovely riverside presence.
Cumberland Falls - worth going at LEAST once a year.
If you are interested in venturing as far north as Newport, the Aquarium is definitely a good day trip.
There are books of hikes for the Red River Gorge. I have one called Kentucky: Land of the Arches, and I'm sure there are others. Something like that can entertain you for years of spring days.
If you like distillery tours, those exist. Woodford Reserve is one that comes to mind. Plenty of others.
Keeneland.
The Big South Fork of the Cumberland River is always a good trip. It extends from south-central Kentucky, well into Tennessee.

Have fun!

My Old Kentucky Home in Bardstown is great, although it's not in the area you specified. It's just wonderful to see the place in person, plus Bardstown is a beautiful town. Every Kentuckian should visit it! The drive through the countryside is incredible, especially during spring.

Pine Mountain in Pineville is a must. I love the views from the top of the mountain, very scenic and peaceful.

While you're close to Danville, I think the Shaker Village is close by. And I can't see a trip to Bowling Green without going to the Corvette Museum. Plus there is always Mammoth Cave.

Stay in Bowling Green, Ky... Mammoth Cave is nearby, and Nashville isn't too far. Other short drives from Bowling Green include Horse Cave, Cave City, and Park City.
