Norman Pepper now has a whale of a story to go along with his big fish. He stays overnight to watch over his tackle shop. Around 11:30 Saturday night, he was disturbed.

"Two guys busted out my window and one come down one aisle the other come down the other aisle and I met them with the force," said Pepper.

The force, a Smith and Wesson, 41 Magnum.

"I fired at the first guy and he just stepped back in time," said Pepper.

Pepper fired a second shot aiming low. Altogether putting two holes in his glass door.

"Then I finished my work and got the job done," said Pepper.

As the two suspects took off, Pepper kept shooting, firing three slugs into the suspect's car.

"It was necessary, we have to stand up. Valley Station has to stand up," said Pepper.

The suspects ditched the car near the Gene Snyder Freeway, where officers later discovered it.

"Several items of evidentiary nature were recovered including sawed-off shotguns and other weapons," said Lt. Jim Mueller, LMPD Robbery Unit.

It was this discovery that allowed officers to tie the car to a string of robberies in south Louisville.

"They would go in and confront the business owners at gun point," said Lt. Mueller.

Metro Police sat 24-year-old Eric Lee Wade and a 16-year-old juvenile used sawed-off shotguns to rob three stores.

The first was happened on January 10th at Cash Tyme on Preston Highway. Three days later, the two robbed the First America Cash Advance on Dixie Highway. In both cases, getting away with cash. The Circle K on Blue Lick Road was the duo's last robbery before their failed attempt at breaking in to Norman Pepper's tackle shop."

Norman Pepper says he's never confronted anyone in 40 years of business. But he plans to leave the bullet holes in his door, for now.

According to the arrest report, the 16-year-old juvenile confessed to the robbery spree and implicated Wade, who was arrested on Sunday.
