My Dad's side of the family is in Eastern KY and we travel to Middlesboro at least twice a year to decorate his gravesite and visit kin. We often stay in a cabin at Pine Mountain State Resort, but this spring break, we've reserved a cabin at Cumberland Falls in Corbin. It's already done and I'm looking forward to getting out and hiking with the kids, but I'm wondering if anyone has an opinion or first-hand experience with the cabins there. I'm not expecing a stay at the Hilton, but I don't want to be in a dump, either!

Thanks!

It's been too many years since I've been there for me to reply with any confidence. It was nice then.
You might want to check out trip advisor forums. If you post there you may get more responses than here.

The cabins are nice and it's very very scenic!!! The DuPont Lodge is also really nice and is surrounded by the forest.

Thanks, InLondon (and lexingtongal, too!)

We've been renting a cabin at Pine Mtn. twice a year for the past 4 years and find them comfortable, but it's so hard to get out and hike there because of the steep terrain. The kids are really looking forward to staying at the falls but even they were concerned about the cabins being just as nice as Pine Mountain. We've got lots of family in Corbin and London, too, so it'll be a nice change to stay there this time.

Just hang onto the kids near the falls - there are few railings, to preserve the natural beauty of the spectacular waterfall.

If you're there during the week of the full moon, you might see the famous Moonbow, one of only two in the world!

I recently visited Cumberland Falls and stayed at the lodge. What an incredibly relaxing and peaceful setting.
I am not sure why it was not crowed but thank goodness that it wasn't.

It was my first visit to the area after traveling to Lexington for the past 5 years, but it will be on my list for future visits.

The whole area was amazing.
