Im A New State Retiree. Iam Covered By Insurance By The New State Health Insurance Program(nyship). I Have Been Searching For Participating Doctors In The Johnson City Area But Have Found Very Few Considering The Number Of Doctors In The Area. United Health Care Administers Our Non Hospital Coverage. Blue Cross Administers Hospital Coverage. Johnson City Medical Center Is Participating Provider For Hospital Coverage. United Health Care Suggested Finding A Good Doctor Or Medical Group Then Inquiring If They Would Become Participating Providers. There Is No Cost To The Physician. Any Nys Retirees Or Others In The Johnson City Area With More Advise Or Suggestions.

Hmmm. If the JC hospital is covered on your plan, you might want to call the hospital and find out the Dr's that are associated with the hospital that have practices off property that accepts the same insurance as the hospital.
Just a thought.

if United is the provider for physician visits, you may want to request a provider directory or go online to their webiste to view all the providers in the area. You should be able to search by zip code and surrounding areas.

I agree with TriDad. Just call Member Services at United Healthcare and request a provider directory for your zipcode. They can also do an immediate Provider Search over the telephone for you by your zip code.

And to find out how their own patients feel about them, there are multiple websites out there, such as:

ratemds.com
drscore.com

blessings, Shen

Thank You All For Your Help. I Did Try Using United Heath Care Provider Directory And Thats How I Found The Very Few Participating Doctors In The Area. I Was Hoping That There Might Be A Nys Retiree In The Tri Cities Area Who Would Have Some Extra Advise. Anybody Out There Have A Friend Or Neighbor Who Retired From Nys State Or Local Government Who Might Know Somthing More? Thanks Again, Jm17

jm, are you a New York state retiree? You don't specifically say.

It seems that if Johnson City Med Center is on your list, surely some of their participating doctors would be on your list. I hope so.

Please keep us up-to-state.
