Well we saw Elizabethton first town this morning...was kind of disappointed I was expecting a closer together town seemed very spread out and a down and out town.

Went back towards JC and on to Jonesborough and we LOVED IT! I love the old houses and all the character of the town...love how seems like JC just stretches until it reaches the city limits of Jonesborough.

Love the area around ETSU and the whole foods store in JC. Seems like a really nice town..wife likes the same 2 areas so far. Johnson city more so than J borough but I wouldn't mind living near either of them. She wants to attend college soon and ETSU is perfect. Love the fact there are SOOO many places to eat and shop and the whole foods store is awesome!

We really didn't like Bristol so weird that town is...got lost once or twice lol...sitting at a hotel outside of Bristol now. Will be heading to Kingsport in the morning and then heading down hwy 11 towards Rogersville eventually ending up in Knoxville.

A few questions about JC

Does it have a farmers market?
What other grocery store besides Food City and the whole foods store is there?
What neighborhoods would be good for growing family of soon to be 5?

Trying to find 2 or 3 bedroom place under 600$ a month nothing fancy just stable and nice. Would love a back yard but anything would work as long as it isn't trashy...what area's would Johnson City folks suggest? We didn't get a chance to drive around any neighborhoods was trying to squeeze to many towns into 1 day lol....

The two main grocery stores are Kroger and Food City.

Earth Fare is a reigonal chain that is more comparable to Whole Foods.

Kroger & Earth Fare are on State of Franklin just North of ETSU.

Your housing budget seems on the low side for rental. Were you looking to buy and have a 30 year mortgage?

JC has a decent farmers market, but Jonesborough's is better.

Not looking to buy no. Never really thought of buying guess we could look into it eventually. I doubt we would make enough to get a loan to pay more than 600$ a month on anything. Hopefully after my wife goes to college and becomes a nurse we can afford it. I have heard the rent is on the low side but right now we pay 400$ a month for a 2 bedroom where we live its the cheapest thing we could find both in price and unfortunately quality. I could push it up to 600 if it was really nice. Not sure what the pay is like in Tn for someone with experience as a deli clerk and dietary aide.

Did not realize J borough had one! That is awesome...I just find it very appealing to buy local food instead of from huge companies. Do they have a website like the J City and Kingsport farmers markets do?

I would suggest you get the Johnson City Press newspaper and/or the local craigslist, and look at the rental section.
Pick out some listings that apeal to you, and drive to that area. That will give you a good idea of what you can expect at that price range.

Have fun exploring! It's such a pretty area.

Be sure to check out Downtown Kingsport when you are driving through. Not just 11W (Stone Dr.) which is the more commercial side of the city. Center St, Market St, Broad St. and so forth (there are 44 city blocks in Downtown Kingsport!) A lot of people seem to miss that on their way through, yet that is where a lot of "the good stuff" is.
I do agree with you about Elizabethton. Never quite got a good feel for that town either.

Nice. You did make it down this way. A few months from now and you should make the trip up to Roan Mountain. Since we moved to JC from Kingsport... we really like JC better. Maybe it's because we did pretty much all there was to do in Kpt and we now have new stuff to explore.
