Well I can't say yet but all I have to say is in the next couple of days, maybe even as soon as tomorrow. There will be quite a big news announcement for the mall in Kingsport. I can't say anything yet on what it will be but it's good news and quite surprising, this could be announced as soon as tomorrow and when its released in the news I will be allowed to post it.

I've been disappointed in the direction Kingsport has taken with the Target strip mall and the planned super-mall at I-26/81; not necessarily that those developments were bad, but the way in which they were undertaken will only negatively impact the area in the future with regards to traffic, open space conservancy, etc.

I think this sounds like a great development. To find a unique adaptive re-use for part of the mall property is so smart and will only serve the community positively in the future.

Agreed, not only is this needed for the mall to have a chance to survive but this will bring a unique entertainment option to the area. I think if this announcement hadn't came alone the mall wouldn't last much longer. Still I think this is a band aide on a larger problem, the mall still needs to renovate and expand if its to last in the long run.

Default I hope this helps the mall.

I worked in the Fort Henry mall from 97-99 and it was dead during the weekdays even then. I worked at Mr. Bulky's for a year then Carlton Cards for a year. (Oh to be 19 again...)

I remember our district manager at Carlton Cards complaining asking why were our sales so low during the week ?!?! Then corporate would come up with all these stupid ideas on how to get sales up during the week. We would have to rearrange things, put tables out near the front, mark stuff down, basically jump on customers as soon as they came through the door, try to upsell, yadda yadda. You can't sell to people if people AREN'T THERE !!

I always worked afternoons during the week and I could literally work a whole shift and have 1-2 customers some nights.

When I worked at Bulky's the rent was 1200.00 a month back THEN...which I thought was high considering most of our sales were made on Friday and Saturday night when the teens would be out shopping. (Mr. Bulky's was upstairs when you get off the escalators it was the little corner candy store on the right if you were coming UP the escalators).

It's sad walking through the mall now and seeing how many stores had to close up shop.

I really hope this helps the mall and brings it back to life. They are going to have to do a major renovation and get people excited about shopping there again.
