Fantastic weather once again on Saturday, so I went up to Bays Mountain Park in the morning & snapped a few photos:

Later in the day, a friend & I strolled the Greenbelt along Netherland Inn Road. Here's some of what we saw (I was very excited to see the otters, first time I've ever seen 'em in Kingsport):

Nice pics! Especially the otters! I usually walk the Greenbelt near Eastman Road, but this week I may change it up so catch a glimpse. My sons would be so excited!

Thanks for the pics! I lived in Rotherwood Estates before I moved here. Back in college I dated the (older ) man that owned the Rotherwood Mansion; that area has always been dear to my heart.

Great pics! Where exactly were those otters???!! We love to watch otters play, I would love to go up there and check them out. How close are they to the parking area closest to Netherland Inn???
As I was coming home from work today I noticed the mountain to the east of Bay's mountain was really starting to look painted with dots of color, maybe the peek will be this weekend ya think?

The otters (four total) swam for about 200 yards as we walked along the path. I first spotted their bobbing heads when we were 100 yards or so past the parking lot w/ the picnic shelter & boat ramp. I ran ahead to the pile of wood in the water close to shore, hoping they'd surface there, and three of them obliged. They posed for about 15 seconds before moving on to the other side of the river. Otters are some of my favorite creatures on Earth, so needless to say I was thrilled!

Yes, I'd say near-peak to peak this weekend. Was very surprised to see that Holston Mountain, even at elevations above 3000', still had so much color yesterday.

Nice pics! (as always!)

I was in Kingsport/Church Hill the day after that (on Sunday) and I was a little little shocked at the lack of fall color there. Most of the trees still seemed to be mostly green. I guess that area is one of the "warmer" area of the Tri-Cities. However, this is also the case in south and southwest Bristol.... much lower color there.

We took these on late Saturday afternoon in Elizabethton, Tennessee (which is just east of Johnson City and south of Bristol). We took these when heading to the Saturday night cruise-in down there. As you can see, there was some color, but not much.
