Hey all, will be traveling to NC for a vacation. My wife and I have been talking about tn. for a while . To visit, maybe move down one day. From what I've read NE tn. seems to be an area worth exploring. Our family is into the outdoors(flyfishing hunting fishing hiking camping, history )
What are some must see's in the tri city area?
We would like to continue down towards gatlinburg before heading to NC.
Time is limited to a few short days, any information regarding the area is greatly appreciated.

I'd try to check out Roan Mountain (both the state park (don't miss the Dave Miller Homestead) & the balds), Bays Mountain Park (Kingsport), South Holston Dam (Bluff City; flyfishing area), the Natural History Museum (Gray), downtown Jonesborough, Sycamore Shoals State Historic Area (Elizabethton), and either Rocky Mount Museum (Piney Flats) or Tipton-Haynes State Historic Site (Johnson City).

Hope y'all enjoy your trip!

We just got back today from Tent Camping at Rock Creek Recreation Area in Unicoi County (Erwin). Nice and peaceful. There are some waterfalls on Rock Creek with a decent hike to get to them. No Reservation are done there and all 3 loops were filled with Trailers. We had to take a no electricity Tent site. Was a good time though.
