Can anyone tell me what the approximate pay rate is for secretarial work and construction (skilled trades). We want to relocate to JC or Bristol and I cannot find what approximate scale of pay we could except to be offered. We have 3 children and cannot make it on the 8 and 9 dollar jobs that I have seen advertised. What could I expect as a Dr. office secretary or hospital clerical work? I do not want to buy our house there and then not be able to "make it". Any information anyone can give me would be great!

My step-mother works as a secretary in a doctor's office. She started at around $10/hr a year or two ago. I know she gets benefits and raises periodically. That's just the starting rate right now, I guess. Not sure about construction, I expect it would be considerably higher.
