We live in Telford, just out of Jonesborough and love it. Jonesborough is a very pretty little town and very accessible to Johnson City and Greeneville and really not but about a 20 to 25 minute drive to Kingsport.

Housing in North JC would seem right for you guys. As for the school system, the elem. schools are great, northside elem. (mostly black) is where I went and it's a wonderful school. But as for high schools, Science Hill is one of the worst schools you could possibly send any kid to, fights, gangs (yes there are gangs in JC), and about 2,500 students in cramped calssrooms. KINGSPORT is probably your best bet only because of the school situation.

If you live in Washington County, but outside Johnson City, then your kids would attend Daniel Boone or David Crockett. I always hear good things about those schools.

Yes, those are great schools, much better than SH.

Depends on what you're seeking. If you're goal is to graduate high school those may be better schools. If you are out to get a leg up for college SH is a better school imo. They offer far more AP classes and a tougher overall curriculum for students who actually want to go to college. At least this was the case just two years ago when we did our homework on which district to select. My youngest is now a senior at SH and has a full slate of AP classes...couldn't get that at the schools mentioned.
