Hello everyone,

I'm trying to decide whether to move to Asheville or to the Jonesborough/JC area. I've been looking online (that's how I found this site!) and plan to visit soon from NC where I am now. I can't seem to find any specific apartment/rental home options for Jonesborough. I'm wondering if there aren't many there because it's a small town and most people live in JC. Any thoughts? Also, is the drive to Asheville pretty easy if I have to commute a few days a week to work? I think Asheville will be more expensive to live in from what I've seen. Thank you!

Hi, welcome to the city-data forums!
Not sure about the Jonesborough rentals, I'll make a few calls to a few folks I know in the area and see what I can find out for you. I would say if the landlord advertises rentals they would be in the Johnson City Press.
As for the drive to Asheville is is easy and beautiful! 26 was completed about 4 years ago and it makes the drive very easy. It would take about an hour each way.

Thank you for your reply; I just got the notice. I'm glad to hear about the drive. It's 2 hours from here and a lot of ups and downs, not an easy drive. I'm planning a trip up there after the holidays. I'll look for the Johnson City Press.

The drive from Jonesborough wouldn't be that much shorter. I'd say that you would still be looking at about at least an hour to an hour and a half depending on where in Jonesborough that you lived. There were quite a few listings for rentals in Jonesborough when I looked in the JC Press yesterday. You can check it out at www.johnsoncitypress.com/classifieds (http://www.johnsoncitypress.com/classifieds - broken link).
