We have been using the Main Street Pizza Company quite often recently. Great bar which is VERY well stocked (who else in Johnson City has Fernet Branca?), good food (I enjoy a thinner crust pizza, which they have), and most of all, the service seems very well trained. Even though it is a pizza joint, probably one of the better restaurants in JC. Last night, as we made the rounds, it was the only place in town that was really busy--like full!

Glad to hear about Main Street. Jamie Dove is a really decent human and I think treats his staff well. Also, they're experimenting with growing most of their food on a farm out on the Nolichuckey.

We have only been to Main Street once, but we really liked it too. Might need to round the herd up sometime soon and go back.

Do you have a recommendation for a pretty good one that does something close to authentic NY? The closest I've found is Simms, and they're a bit inconsistent and don't have much in the way of dine in capacity.

In general, I wish this area had a nice Italian restaurant. Also a good seafood restaurant, even though we're far from the coast.

Other than Simms, maybe Johnny Brusco's? Luke's Pizza on W. Market St. is good as well.

For Italian, Bella Vita is, IMO, the absolute best in Northeast TN. Family run and everything is homemade. Kind of tucked away right next to Mellow Mushroom in JC. For seafood, Bonefish seems to be about the only halfway decent option.

I have seen Bella Vita, but never been there. Will definitely have to check that out. Thanks for the recommendation. Bonefish does fish OK, but their seafood options are very limited. (The best restaurant meal I've had in this area recently was at Bonefish.) I'm spoiled, I guess, since I used to live 15 minutes from the Gulf.

Not a Johnny Brusco fan. Haven't tried Luke's. From what I read online it used to be good, but went downhill with new owners. Guess I need to check it out myself.

Thanks!

The area could use a good Neapolitan pizza restaurant. There is a lot of chain and greasy pizza, but nothing like that.

Portico makes a decent Neapolitan pizza but that's about your only option.

Going to have to try Portico - I don't remember them having the Naples style pizza in their old location. Is this new?

I thought they had it in their old location but not sure. I know they had s brand new oven imported for their new location and they're definitely serving neapolitan style pizza
