Itotally think it will be 10 years at least. Remember the 5-7 years was assuming new technology would be available to shorten the time. Another thing to consider is when it comes time to refill the lake. An immense amount of vegetation will need to be cleared from the areas that will be covered. Will environmental surveys need to be conducted on the reforested areas to check for threatened species? I'm sure TVA has thought of all this but it is just more questions.

Update: Phase two of the Boone Dam reconstruction process | News - Home

TVA received their environmental assessment early this month that showed no negative environmental impacts due to the construction. So now with phase one done, it's on to the 'design' phase.

Apparently this was announced weeks ago, but I must have missed it and saw something on it this week. Many workers on the project have been furloughed.

The rumors swirl. From progress stopped; to the Lake is going to be brought up to full pool immediately for a 'test'.

From the top dog on the project: things are on schedule, going well, experiencing the usual upsets and accomplishments. The original 2020 to 2022 time frame is still intact.

Basically, this project is going as expected. Slowly, steadily and surely. Any other comments are just conjecture.
