Folks that feel that way aren't going to like the consolidation of the top services in JC. I really don't have much of an opinion between HVMC and JCMC, but there are some with opinions like that who will feel a bit burned.

Has anyone been counting medical helicopters lately? Expensive birds to lease and operate and I wonder if one stationed on the Admiral's flagship will suffice should the fleet be downsized? You can do interesting math with those minutes and seconds of one way travel time if it requires two way travel or if Medical-Uber is busy.

Interesting that Bristol Regional MC has (make that had) the only Level II trauma center in Tennessee. This is why rural heath care in Tennessee is almost as good as the rural broadband service!

Or you will go where the ambulance takes you if you are unconscious. Or if JCMC is on diversion, they will take you to wherever is closest and their command center tells them to (helicopter or dispatch for ambulances).

Supposedly, that command center software is being upgraded to deliver more efficient routing. But do you really want to trust trauma patient care to efficient call center software? There is no way, zero, none, option that I would let software under a Ballad license make a medical decision on my behalf.

That's not saying anything nefarious is going on in a particular case. With that said, and with all that is going on in my personal life, I'm largely divorcing myself and my family from the local health system, and we are seeking solutions elsewhere.
