I personally really like Daniel Boone. My oldest son is there and my step son graduated from there. Good school.

Glad to hear Boone is a good school.

I have to disagree with almost everything that has been posted above about Kingsport City Schools. I myself went to Miller Perry, Colonial Heights and Sullivan South. At the time South was relatively new, and was a great school. (I graduated in 1986). We were all "scared" of the Dobyns-Bennett kids, and believed all of the horror stories we'd hear about city schools.
I have since moved into the city, and my two kids have attended city schools their entire lives. I have one in 2nd grade at Washington Elementary, and one in 9th grade at DB.
I have had nothing but 100% positive experiences with Washington, Sevier Middle, and Dobyns-Bennett. Both of my children are receiving wonderful educations, in very good environments. According to my 9th grader, he's never even seen a fight, in almost 10 years.
The facilities at DB are far and away better than Sullivan South. Walking through the school, you would never guess at the age of the building. It's neat, clean, well-kept and has been continually up-graded through the years. The few times I've been back to South over the years I was appalled at how run-down it has become.
DB enjoys a terrific reputation both athletically and academically with universities nation-wide. They had 5 service academy nominations last year alone.
As a former Sullivan South Rebel, it almost pains me to say these things. But, I think there are way too many false assumptions and accusations being made about the city schools. They are truly excellent.

We live in Telford and a number of people from our church talk about how much their kids like David Crockett HS in Jonesborough. It's been a tough year for them in sports, but they say that it is a very good high school.

Although I live in Piney Flats, my kids went to Science Hill. The subdivision we lived in at the time had been annexed by the city. But we did have an exchange student who went to Sullivan East back around 1999. At that time we thought it was a good school. The administration was very helpful when we were trying to get him enrolled and always responded quickly to any concerns we may have had. I have a friend whose daughter is in her first year there and they are very happy with the school. She had also been very happy with Mary Hughes in Piney Flats (K - 8th grade).

Thanks, D. Our property is on the borderline, with a small parcel in Washington County but the bulk in Sullivan. I wonder if my son's children would be able to choose which school to go to? Probably not though, since our taxes go to Sullivan Co.

Hey Piney! That's interesting.... I guess if you pay your taxes to Sullivan County then that's where they would go to school. But I think they will be okay with Mary Hughes and Sullivan South.

In my sons AP classes he has quite a few classmates that drive in from Sullivan County. I drove him to a friends house once and was amazed at how far these kids drive each day to get to Science Hill.
