Didn't West Town Mall have a Macy's at one point? The ship may have sailed by now.

Looks like some new tenants are on the way in! Charley's Grilled Subs is reopening under a new owner and with a remodel. Also, next door where Chick fil A was will be a place named "Sweet Spoon" in their building permit application. Workers in the mall said it is slated to be an ice cream shop.

Also, a new ladies clothing store "The Savvy Boutique" has opened on the lower level where Crazy 8's and Ladies Footlocker were once located. This store was opened by a local college student and carries a variety of trendy styles

Those subs are pretty decent. At this point, the remodel is mostly done and the job is to attract tenants. Hopefully this will get things moving in a positive direction.

OK, good to see some activity finally here with new stores. That's good news for sure!

I could actually see this mall *maybe* coming back to seeing decent retail activity if they maintain what's there now and slowly add new stores/restaurants.

If they tear down Sears this fall, and then add 2 or 3 restaurants on sites to "ring the mall," that could be the jolt the mall needs to become sort of a destination again (on a more minor level of course).

I have always said the mall could be a good site for an Outback Steakhouse, Steak n Shake, Dunkin Donuts and another Kingsport Chik Fil A....that would really boost the mall's profile, if they landed a Chik Fil A.

You all forgot one.

There used to be a Wendy's where Crazy Tomato is in Colonial Heights year ago. Sitar, an Indian restaurant, was in there for awhile, possibly a Fazoli's, but I remember the Wendy's there clearly.

Ah, so true! I did forget about that one. Wow, Wendy's just has played musical chairs with their Kingsport area restaurants over the years. haha

I do wonder what they are building next to the location in front of Kingsport Pavilion though. Hopefully some good eating alternatives--which Kingsport desperately needs.

Sears is to be demolished at the end of this year, the big rumor is Marshall's and/or Publix is interested in that spot but both of those are pretty big rumors and unconfirmed.

In the Kingsport Times News this morning, see link below.

Kingsport Times-News: Demolition taking place at Fort Henry Mall; new restaurants coming in

Sears to begin demolition very soon, and there are 2 restaurants coming in, Charley's Steakery and Sweet Spoon.

Once demolished, I think this spot is PRIME for either Marshall's or Publix.

As recently as 2 years ago, the mall seemed left for dead, but in the past 2 years, the new management company has seemingly lifted it up out of its dead status through fresh renovations and a steady marketing push, and the mall is making a slow but ever so steady comeback.
If either of those big brand stores could locate there, it would be a HUGE boost for Fort Henry Mall's comeback, and they certainly would've defied the odds stacked against them.

I liked the last paragraph that states that the mall is interested in partnering up with someone willing to open a restaurant. They have Garfields still sitting empty and perfect for a nicer dining venue
