I am in west suburban Chicago and currently access the internet thru a DSL modem and phone line. I waited a while for the phone company to update equipment before a high speed connection was available. Can anyone tell me how much of the tri-city area is equipped this way. Will I need cable access or satellite for a high speed connection?

Not sure if DSL is available, I guess it might be? I've never used it, so I have no idea how it works. High speed internet through cable (charter/comcast) is available practically everywhere in NETN.

We have high speed DSL through Embarq in the Telford/Jonesborough area. It's much better than the cable we had in Jacksonville, FL.

I have the DSL through Embarq in Gray as well, works great! No issues...well except when our router went down, but that was our equipment, nothing to do with the service.

I live in Gate City, VA and have Embarq DSL. So far it's been great for me! I have the 5 Mbps download/768k upload package for $39.95 a month. I've run speed tests and at all times I've got around if not a bit above that speed. The service is very reliable only going offline a couple of times for me, both times being late at night/early morning and just for a brief time. Speeds also seem to be the same no matter what time of the day.

I have DSL out here in Stoney Creek and LOVE it.

Before I moved out here last fall, I had charter cable modem in Blountville - it was okay, but the DSL is faster.
