We are moving to Johnson City next month. We have an apartment lined up, but are unsure of the area it is in. We do not have a great knowledge of JC, as we are moving from WV. We found an apartment just north of the city on a road called mountainview road.

Does anyone know anything about that area? It's near winged deer Park. Is it safe? Crime? Etc?

Any information would help

W Mountain View Road is near the Walmart and big box shopping off State of Franklin, and it continues toward the car dealerships near Winged Deer.

That area is fine. The area near the car dealerships is kind of ugly, but it isn't dangerous.

Welcome to the area! My step sister in law is from W Va and loves it here. You will be fine in that area!

I am from Johnson City, went to ETSU, and live near the mall. It's a great place to live for several reasons:
It has a low cost of living. Saying that there's not a great number of services if you're familiar with other states with income taxes and such. However, TVA does a great job with the lakes, and there are numerous local parks, like WDP. There are state parks and historical areas that you can visit.

There are tons of outdoor things to do. Since you're from WVa. you know of and may participate in several of those activities, like camping, hiking, boating, rafting, and road trips.

The crime rate is low. There are some sketchier areas, but the area you have an apartment isn't bad. My college roommate's family lives over near you.

So I like living here.
