I am a teacher and am hoping to relocate to the area but need a job before I make the big move from Florida. I have been checking the various school district sites in the area, but was wondering if anyone knew of any new high schools or middle schools scheduled to open next year. They would most likely need to hire several teachers, so I was hoping to get my foot in the door that way.

Also, are there any charter schools or private schools in the area that are secular?

Thanks for any help you can provide! I really want to move to the area this summer, but am not finding too much in terms of a teaching job.

I don't think a new high school has opened in the Tri-Cities area in the past 20-25 years, and that's probably true for middle schools as well. I don't think any new ones are slated to open next year (definitely not in Kingsport, Bristol or JC).

The only secular private schools I'm aware of are Ashley Academy (K-8) in JC and Sullins Academy (preschool-8) in Bristol, VA.

Good luck w/ your job search!

A new elementary school will also open in Telford (Washington County) next year, but I do not know what the name will be.

Smile New Elementary / Middle Schools

Washington County (TN) is opening two elementary / middle schools next year, K - 8th grade, so you might check with them.

The website is www.wcde.org

Good luck!
