I used to be a member in a gun range in the Memphis area, now looking for a tri-cities option to join as a member. Has to be an outdoor range to bring out my long guns out to 200 or 300 yards, as well as shorter distances for handguns and shotguns, maybe some competitive shooting in the future.

I see my options are TAC1 near Greeneville, Cherokee Rifle Range near Bristol, and Unaka near Johnson City.

What are the laws on shooting ranges on your property?

In TN I think it varies by municipality. I live in an unincorporated area and I do have some land behind my house, and a hill behind that land, but not enough where I would be comfortable shooting as we also have neighbors on both sides. Mostly because of the noise. I don't want to be THAT GUY.
Also, surprisingly as gun friendly as TN is, there are no public lands you can go to and just shoot, outside of a range.

Really? You can just find a place and shoot. I know shooting is allowed on national forest land in some cases. Is this not the case in TN

Not that I know of, it's not like out west with all that empty BLM land.

Thanks. I looked on the map, right at the KY/VA border right? Might be a bit too far for me, looking for something closer to G'ville area.
