Where I live now (Scranton/Wilkes Barre metro) is demographically very similar to the tri-cities. A casino was built around a local race track and is now a hub of development and entertainment. The casino includes several restaurants, ranging from Italian to sushi to an upscale Ruth Chris's. They have bands on weekends and in the summer have tribute bands performing outside (with no cover charge) that pulls in thousands of people of all ages. While I don't go there often (and don't gamble, so I guess for the bands and occasional meal) it's definitely provided jobs and a boost to the local economy. They even built a hotel on the property.
If it's only game machines and table games I doubt it'd have the same impact but it they're willing to invest and offer more it can be a real boon to the area. Btw the casino doesn't seem to have impacted crime on a noticeable level. They do a very good job with security.

I always try and stop in Bristol overnight going to Atlanta..A new Casino sounds like a big plus..besides jobs and local revenue, they usually have great food choices, big sports lounges, music acts, etc..you don't even need to gamble..

I agree with the above, I'm from the Bristol area but lived near Tulsa, OK for the past 3 years. My girlfriend and I often go to the Hard Rock Casino/Hotel Tulsa for their concerts, music, and the line dancing. Never do we gamble and many of the shows are free
