Default driving home in it yesterday...

I ran some errands after work yesterday. I saw dark clouds in the distance and thought I could just "pop" in and out before the rain -silly me. I had to pack my groceries with one hand while holding the grocery cart with my other hand to keep the cart from damaging my car or rolling away. Then, my short drive home took twice as long because I had to drive 5-10mph! The rain and wind were so heavy in JC (State of Franklin & I-26) near dinnertime that I thought I was driving through a tropical storm in FL again... Then, I heard the hail -and started to pray it wasn't big enough to damage my car... All in all, no damage at my house, and a nice 0.8 inches of rain for my lawn/plants.
Wish I had a camera before heading to my car with groceries - amazing lightening.

Default yup, same problem here in JC

Getting quite a nice light show - and rain. I haven't seen any hail here, but I don't want any either.

I was driving back from Asheville in last night's storms. Holy MOLY, Batman, I've never seen so much rain! Thank God I was back off the mountain and just passing Erwin. I literally had no idea where I was going, but I was too afraid to pull over as I could just imagine someone plowing right into the back of me. I've driven in some very heavy rains before (once, unfortunately on I-95 in the NE ), but never anything like this.

Isn't that always how it goes? You're on the interstate, so it has to come a deluge.

I am guessing you didn't because I was watching WBIR Knoxville weather and it showed a big storm going over downtown Knoxville again!

We had more today in Bristol and Kingsport. I had a meeting today in Kingsport. When we left at 3pm, it was sunny and hot. I went back by work (in Bristol) and went in for about 45 minutes and when I came back out, it started raining very heavily, with vivid lightning. Water pooled on the roads... about 2 miles down, not even a drop with bright sunshine! It never rained a drop at my house, but the thunder was still cracking.
When I got home and watched the radar, the storm had went to the north and west side of Bristol. Also, the place where we were at in Kingsport also had a heavy storm right after we left! Perfect timing (if you did not want to get wet )

It was another scorcher.... 91° at my house and 93° at the Tri-Cities airport. Still a muggy 75° @ the midnight hours.

Missed most of it. There was a bit of rain as I was on 40 but that's it, really. I wrapped up the day at Sundown in the City (Citizen Cope was there, and I adore him/them) - good God, I've never seen a Sundown crowd that big! Also had dinner at The Tomato Head (the vegan sandwich, corn chips and the hummous & fresh veggies) which was excellent.

A couple friends had never been to Knoxville so getting to show them around downtown was fun for the rest of us. A nice day all in all.

Sounds like a fun time.

At our meeting today in Kingsport (which is normally held in Abingdon VA) we had some visitors there from Des Moines, Iowa (some of them had never been to Tri-Cities) and I overheard one of them asking about Kingsport to one of the locals... the response was from the local, "Eastman is what makes Kingsport successful".

One lady from Iowa told us she had never been to the area, but had a chance to drive around a little on Wednesday night and loved it here and wants to come back for a pleasure visit rather than business.
