Just found this article in the Press - Seems like a very good commission decision to help address the flooding issue - and improve the area in general. Also good to know they are wisely using funds from the Storm Water Utility Fund.
(An excerpt from the article)

"Commissioners also approved the purchase of property at 107 Boone St. Peoples Community Bank has agreed to sell the property to the city instead of holding a Sept. 24 public auction.
The property, which the bank has agreed to sell to the city for $75,000, is at the corner of King and Boone streets and is commonly known as the Essex Building.

The property is valued on the tax rolls at $84,000, and the bank holds a lien against the property of just more than $85,600.

Public Works Director Phil Pindzola said the property will be used to remediate flooding along King Creek.
“Since the property is located along the King Creek culvert which needs to be replaced with an open channel, the staff recommends the purchase of the property at $75,000,” he said. “Funding for the purchase is available through the Storm Water Utility Fund.”

I know the area but off the top of my head can't recall what the building looks like exactly. Is it the Black Tie Formal Wear? Or something behind it?

Are they going to tear it down, then, and open up greenspace? The article was a little vague.
