Could anyone give me some info on either of these schools. Trying to find a house with 35 minutes of JC and have found some in both of these districts. Would like to know about volleyball programs if they have teams and how the band programs are. I can find report cards and scores but that doesn't tell my daughter the things she thinks are most important. I would just like to be able to reassure her that she wouldn't have to give up her sport or a good band program when we move.
Thanks in advance.

Daniel Boone has a better reputation in nearly all aspects than Happy Valley, including the ones you specifically mentioned.

With respect to Band and VB, I'd say Boone is average for the area and Happy Valley is below average.

Now if you were considering Elizabethton HS instead of Happy Vally, then that would be a closer comparison.

I agree with the above post. Daniel Boone is a much better choice between the two.

I agree with you. Boone is a much better school. Our daughter graduated from there transferring from Science Hill. She loved it. The school has good academics and a respectful band and chorus. Our daughter was in music and was in the Reflections.
Boone is somewhat red neck - with the second row of the parking lot full of trucks,
but the whole time our daughter was there (3 yrs) there was never a drug problem.
Can't say the same for HV. I would recommend Boone hands down.

Hi! I'm a senior at Boone and I can honestly say that its a fantastic school! I haven't been involved in volleyball or band, but I have friends who are and they all love it. Our volleyball team is quite good and I'm sure your daughter would love it. I was in chorus last year and it was one of the best experiences of my high school career. We had two major concerts, one in spring and one for Christmas. We also put on a yearly play, usually in May. We take one major feild trip a year. Last year we went to NY for a week. It was amazing! Boone students have an amazing amount of pride for our school... You should schedule an interview with our principal, Mr. Roger Jackson, and I'm sure they would love to give you and your daughter a tour of the school. The office telephone number is (423)477-1600. You should be able to reach them any time between 8a.m. and 3p.m. Good luck!!
