I will be in JC mid February and will be looking at a few homes in the area. Could someone recommend a good reputable realtor? I am looking at an older home on West Poplar in JC, Is that a decent area? We kind of like the older homes, are there any other areas we should look for say a craftsman style home or bungalow either in JC or Elizabethton? Thanks in advance.

Never been in that exact place but in general the Tree Streets are good neighborhoods. I would say you're looking in exactly the right place. Anything around Melrose Court or Southside Elementary is a great area and very convenient to downtown and the University (and the Medical Center).

Mrk9, I DMd you a realtor I highly recommend. She is very knowledgeable about the area, and will work with perseverance you wouldn't believe to make you happy.

Dunno, Mrk, it's some weird rule about not posting info. For some things you can, others you can't. I don't get it, so I just rely on mbmouse to tell me when I'm in the right or wrong.

If you didn't get the info that the other poster or I posted, please send me a DM and I'll get it to you.

Sorry folks and Mrk9, when it comes to Realtor recommendations, it is best to do so using DM (direct messaging) it is considered "advertisings" same with " can you recommend a plumber" kind of thing. But stating your favorite restaurant, store etc is fine....... please don't ask why, even us moderators have to follow the rules too.
Mrk9, CD is a heavily moderated forum so every one can find the info they are looking for either here or by asking questions and getting DM answers without having to weed through a bunch of spam and ads.
Hope that answers your questions.
