MBMouse,
The point I was trying to make was that with the tremendous volume of traffic in DC to NYC areas, which is not here in the Tri-Cities area, those drivers are far more predictable than local drivers. In other words, I have no problem driving at 65-70 mph on the Schuylkill Expressay, (one of the worst highways), three foot from the car in front and three foot from the car in back of me because I know what to expect and what is expected of me. I am baffled here when I see two or three cars involved in an accident on Stone dr, Kingsport, at 6:00am with almost no traffic present. One might think they actually drove into each other deliberately. Drivers that manage to get on the interstates going the wrong way??? Are they suicidal or just dumb?
The most amazing thing about the Tri-Cities area, according to the local news media, is that it is rated as one of the most dangerous places to drive in the country.
Like I said, apples to oranges, your are safer on the DC beltway that driving on Stone Dr. in Kingsport.

I think it should be illegal to talk in the car while driving. It's just as distracting as a cell phone.

I used to be bothered by tractors until I became aware of the fact that everyone drives so slow that you might as well be behind a tractor. Now, I'm like everyone else, if I'm late I don't worry about it.

Don't be bothered by the tractors. Without them you'd not eat!

When I (regrettably) lived in SW VA - the drivers weren't that bad. However I end up seeing cars with VA plates zip on and off the highway and out of the shopping areas like they are the only cars on the road. Got cut off today by a car moving over 2 lanes at a time, zipping through bigger cars to get on the highway. Not necessary.

AH! Well, ok, when you put the comparison that way, I can see your point.

Geez - and I thought all the crazy drivers were in Wisconsin (and I'm pretty sure we have some of the most drunk drivers in the country from what I see on tv.- not that strict here).

Try driving in Hawkins County and Kingsport....I swear I could stop cursing if I didn't drive! How about when someone runs a stop sign and nearly kills you but then blesses you out for it...slows down to 2 miles per hour and then turns with no signal...

Yeah, I agree. Whatever bad traffic we have here in JC is multiplied in Kingsport, for whatever reason.

I was really thinking of making a trip there this summer (after JoshB here told us about his great time there in Oct.) I'm not sure now as my "driver" swears over petty things - gee I can only imagine the stress level - ha
