Rainer, thanks for the report and good to hear that y'all enjoyed yourselves. Overall, folks here are about as friendly as you'll find anywhere in the country. I wish the weather had stayed nice your entire visit, but that would've been atypical for March.

Kingsport's Greenbelt & Warriors' Path State Park see heavy usage by walkers/runners/bikers during milder weather, but far too many people are still sedentary. That's one of the reasons we have so many medical professionals in the Tri-Cities.

Good luck on landing that piece of property, I think y'all would love living in that area!

Default Medical professionals

Well then I guess there could be some retirement part time job security in the sedentary life style - I am a PA and my wife an RN

Default Great to know

This is Rainer's wife Catherine,
We are still a bit confused about finding our way in Johnson City.
We once drove by a fairly new shopping area with a BJ's we believe with a bagel shoppe of some type in the outer area although we were unable to locate this area on several repeat attempts. We ended up mostly in the old industrial type area each time we drove to the area. We seem to be missing something??

OK,

that may not sound that great unless you have these STORES down south: it is called BJ's wholesale, sort of like a Sam's Club, membership type? Both are warehouse type stores selling anything from groceries to tires!

I don't know of any BJ's or any bagel shops in Johnson City. You sure you were here???

The secret to navigating Johnson City is utilizing its two main roads - Roan St. and State of Franklin. Once you get these mastered, you can supplement them with I-26, Knob Creek Road and Sunset Drive. Until you get a feel for things, I would plan all my driving around Roan and Franklin. Yep they both lead into downtown (the outskirts of which I suppose are the industrial areas, especially if you're going out Legion or something), but they also lead out of downtown into the mall/Target area abd North JC (a main shopping district), respectively.

Default Tennis in Johnson City

In Johnson City there are 14 lighted tennis courts at Liberty Bell Tennis Center, five at Metro Kiwanis Park, all over the place. Soccer fields, batting cages, frisbee golf, playgrounds, skateboard park, hiking areas......etc.

Default Yup, was there

Wow!

Sounds like enough courts to keep us busy! Thank you for that info, I am sure in time we will find the all!

As for Bagel place and having been there - yup, we were there. Again, very confusing as we drove through MANY areas with a realtor, and this one area, which seemed newer, stuck in our heads. My wife is the one who thought there was a BJ's wholesale (again, as in Wholesale warehouse which we have up North), and I remember a restaurant similar to Panera's (we have them up north as well - for coffee, Bagels, sandwiches, internet hub, etc).
It was a 3 second picture while driving by, so, what we saw and what we remember is a little melted.
Well, I am sure while we search for the tennis courts, we may find this area again.

Rainer

Sounds like you were in the just east of Knob Creek area and what you saw was Sam's club. If you were driving behind there, you would have seen the Atlanta Bread Co. as well as the back side of Sam's club and their parking lot, but probably not the sign.

I was just going to post this exact same thing. ABC is a lot like a Panera.
