The BANQ roof top is available only for event rentals. But boy it WOULD be soo neat to have a roof top bar or café or something in the area wouldn't it? Maybe that is the nest big thing to hit one of these great old buildings in any of our three cities? First one to do it would be the shizse nizzel for sure!

Um, the only movers and shakers in JC are concerned with North State of Franklin, I think.

There actually is an ampitheatre in downtown JC, behind the library. There was/is(?) a concert series there this summer.

Yes, Jab.. It's on the site of where a grocery store once stood. I checked the JCDA site but couldn't find additional info on the next concert. It really is a great and spacious location for an outdoor concert!

Following is part of the Press article on the most recent concert..
____

The Blue Plum Jammin’ Concert Series opens Saturday, offering a free concert in an outdoor setting in downtown Johnson City.

Concerts will take place in the grassy, amphitheater-shaped hillside just below the Johnson City Public Library and next to the old ntara building between East Millard and King streets. People are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs to sit on.

The first band in the series is Frito Puente, a local group of veteran musicians playing a lively blend of Latin jazz. They were a big hit at last month’s Blue Plum Festival on the Jazz Stage.

The Blue Plum Jammin’ Concert Series is sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, Friends of Olde DownTowne, Hands On! Regional Museum, Johnson City Development Authority and a private donor. “We’re excited about it,” said Cate Abraham, marketing manager for the JCDA. “We’ve got some good people coming. We’re going to have a really nice, family-friendly event there. “This piece of land was terraced specifically for this kind of thing. It’s sort of an outdoor amphitheater and it’s perfect for this concert series, but it hasn’t really been used for anything before.”

Bristol lofts? Don't know those. Spend a lot of time there, and there are some great buildings. Unfortunately, I live in JC.
