Thanks so much for all of the suggestions. I have heard that the Peerless grinds their own hamburger meat and that their hamburgers are wonderful.

Default I've always wondered about The Meadows

at Meadowview.

Is it upscale ? I've heard it's sorta expensive.

I've always enjoyed Peerless, when in town. My grandfather went to the original, way back when. (Just watch out for the bartenders. My sister is knowledgeable about wines, and when she ordered an expensive white, she received the house wine. It took three tries to get it right, and a discussion with the bartender.) MeadowView has consistently been a disappointment - convention food. Really miss Carter on Main in Elizabethton, but the service was quite spotty. Have only shopped the counter at Gourmet & Co., as I witnessed a clientele that was a little bit too aware of itself. What was the name of that restaurant in Kingsport, that was so popular in the 80s??? It was considered THE place to go.

We love the General Morgan Inn in Greeneville - comfortably elegant with great food and pleasant, polite servers. That's been our chosen place for special dinners for years. And their Thanksgiving dinners are actually stupendous feasts.
