Hey Linda V, another WA person here too. We were in Jonesborough-Gray, TN area two years ago for a summer trip. OH MY GOD - not just wonderful scenery but the sweetest most lovely people. That whole area and even Dollywood(nothing like junky Disneyland) was absolutely clean and wonderful. We so enjoyed it. The real estate people are ready for you (they have lots of people moving to that area of TN) so prices are already fairly inflated. However, we Washingtonians are used to wild real estate prices anyway. The rolling green hills, etc and the much much lower humidity as compared to western TN made for one of the most wonderful springs we ever experienced. We hike too. Remember, as compared to western WA, you will have bugs. Chiggers, ticks, mosquitoes when in the Smokies you need to prepare for. Your dogs will have a ball! I wish you ever so much luck. Jonesborough looks like a Bisbee, Az, old historic type of place. Bunches of antique stores, cute cafes and lots of cars and people in summer. Enjoy!
