Anyone noticed black tarp like things covering area near Mullican flooring near ETSU on SOF. It is kind of across macdonalds. Anyone knows whats going on there?
They were really quick in covering that area off so people could not see.
Just curious ...

I believe the property is owned by Atmos Energy. They're redeveloping it into a greenspace and (I believe) giving it to the city. The property is purported to be the first part of a downtown-ETSU greenlink walking, biking trail. I imagine the next link will be incorporated into the University Edge apartments (being built on the *other* side of the soon-to-be-former Tennessee St [now University Parkway].

Thats interesting. I also heard JC was building a lake/pond across from where general mills-future-chamber of commerce site is I guess that will be another greenspot on the trail.

Hmm. I haven't heard that exactly, but I wonder if what you mention is referring to a retention pond to alleviate downtown flooding issues. I believe that is one fix that is currently being "floated." As with all things Johnson City, I'll believe it when I see it. I think it's very telling that the first action on the greenspace-trail is by a private company.
