Just noticed they are cleared out, looks like the place is being gutted and fixed;its the older brick apartment building across from Orth condos,near ETSU.

A new group bought the apartments, evicted the tenants, and are renovating them to make them more higher end apartments

I have very mixed feelings about this project. BTW - this area is called Little Mexico because a huge majority (probably in the 90%+ range) of the tenants were low income Hispanics. The new group bought the apartments to make a quick buck; rents were very surpressed. I just hope that the people living there were able to relocate successfully into affordable housing.

In many ways, this was the destruction of a vibrant community in JC. :/

I essentially agree. You are correct about the tenants in those apartments, and there needs to be a viable place for those residents to live. Rent rates in Johnson City in general are MUCH higher than they should be, and it really hurts people trying to better themselves, live a quality life, save for a down payment for their own home, etc.
