I need the scoop on the Johnson City area in regard to: schools, quality of living, shopping/restaurants, medical care, and anything else that might make me more interested in moving for the 5th time in 4 years! Seriously, give me the good, the bad, and the ugly so our decision can be made with as much information as possible. Going to visit this weekend so if you've got itinerary suggestions those are welcome too! THANKS!

Wow...that is a lot for a quick answer so the short and fast answer is. It is all good. hahahahha
Schools are pretty good, depending on which ones and what grade you are looking for? You said City, so all city elementary and high schools feed into Science Hill High school, which has a great band and good sports teams. It is a city school and large. But not what you would nationally consider an "inner city school", but not a country school either.
Medical: Mountain States Health Alliance is the largest medical management company in the area and there are a lot of specialties and the hospital is large and also has a lot of specialty centers within it such as a children's hospital, cancer center, heart center and so forth.
Shopping, well, there is no Sac's, Macy's or Trader Joe's, but just about everything else accounted for.
I would suggest you read through as many of the threads here on the forum as possible before your trip. There is pages and pages of threads that contain a whole lot of info about the area, more than you could ask and get responses to in a few days.
Hope that helps.
