I'm curious to know how safe the city itself is and also surrounding areas.

Well it depends on what part of the city you're talking about exactly really...Knox has 4 sides and each one is pretty different...East Knox is mostly ghetto...Not all,But most of it is...Just like any other city its size Knox has its fair share of crime,But most of it is either domestic or drug related...Other than that most of the crime you hear about here is bank robberies and drug store robberies...I think Knox ranks pretty high in those depts for a city its size...I would look into Maryville tho..Thats a nice lil town 15-20 mins south of Knox with a pretty low overall crime rate...Its a growing town as well...Its getting alot of the same shops and resturants as Knox is getting..Just on a slower pace...Plus Maryville city schools are pretty top notch..Not to many schools in Knox can really compare to Maryville high

I don't agree. West High and Farragut High School are rated as top schools in Newsweek, along with Oak Ridge. Maryville is not on the list of the top 1,000.
