The Knoxville Hooters shooting is making the national news unlike the horrific Knoxville murder of that couple that was barely a blip in the national media. Why?

Because Hooter's is a chain restaurant with restaurants in my places. And Hooter's is the subject of a lot of debate.

Yes, tragedies that have a national link, such as a chain like Hooter's (though no less tragic) engender ratings and dialogue, and that is what news editors are after in this day and age. But then, many people believe that national news organizations are like used car salesmen. They report, bend, and twist to suit their particular agenda.

I never even thought of that. I couldn't understand why a shooting that's typical in many cities made the National news and why the other more horrific one, didn't make a blip. I couldn't remember if the other one happened on a busy news day and this one happened on a slow news day --- but the chain restaurant angle makes sense.

I saw on another board that the police have shot the suspect in a chase behind the Green Hills Grill-news as of 11:45 PM. Has anyone heard this?

I have not but I did hear the deceased victim was from Michigan here on a visit. I hope it wasn't one of our posters.

Yes. They think they shot him.

By the way, when Channon and Christian were killed, it was a slow news day. For whatever reason, the AP out of Nashville did not pick it up. To their credit, the local news has extensively covered it.

Default family member

I am a relative of David Rudd, the "Hooter Shooter". I am new to this foum (but you knew that, right?).

I live in Ohio, and am planning on going to TN to be with my aunt and uncle. I am worried about pubic response to his death. i realize he was a murderer and I am not trying to diminish his crime. I am worried about public outcry toward him.

Does anyone know what it is like there? Understandably, people are going to be angry and upset. Is this as big in the news as it is to my family?

Yes. People are very angry and upset. Yes, it is very big news. Public outcry is what it is. You are a nice person to be concerned about your aunt and uncle. There are many, many victims with this crime. I am sorry for your family as I know that they are grieving in their own way. Safe travels.

Should I pretend I do not know of him when I am in a public place? I am going to be at their house and doing most of their shopping, cleaning and such for a few days. They are both unable to go out of the house right now.

I cannot imagine how hard this must be for the victims families. I would like to say something to them, but realize, (unfortunately) I cannot. Crimes area more difficult event then just the simple breaking of the law. This is so sad.
