Usually that is a pretty good time but it looks like everything will peak a bit earlier due to the early cold weather we had. Still, you should find some great color in the valleys I would think.

We had strong winds here last night; I had to dodge the branches on the back roads on my way into work. That wind got rid of alot of the dead leaves, so the colors are going to get really bright and vibrant now.

Maybe this will help! This website has a webcam overlooking Gatlinburg.

Excellent link!

I think this is shaping up to be one of our more spectacular years for fall colors. Even in today's yucky, overcast drizzle, I noticed a lot more colors than just a few days ago. With the crisp nights we're going to have the next few nights and the brilliant sunny days that are headed our way, I bet by next weekend we're going to be reveling in some gorgeous fall scenery.

And, I might add, this is one reason why I love living in Tennessee!

North Knoxville is starting to see some spectacular color. Some trees are almost neon in their coloring. This weekend I'm going to head out and take some pictures.

I really have to agree with this. The leaves are especially pretty this year. I've been in this home for four years and the numerous hickory trees on my property always had leaves that turned brown and just dropped off. There was barely any color and when there was the leaves still had large brown spots on them. This year they actually look gorgeous.

Yesterday I was hiking on the trail by the creek above Elkmont and the colors were amazing. I think any of the creekside hikes would be amazing. The colors seem to be fading out in the higher elevations.

Note: DO NOT attempt to drive through Gatlinburg this weekend. Elkmont and the little river road can be acessed from Townsend or Wear's Valley via Lyon Spring road.
