Unemployment rate is about 7.5 percent. It's going to depend on a gazillion things regarding how quickly you will get jobs. No one can speak to your individual situation. That's why it is very important to get jobs before you move.

Pay is generally lower than the north, northeast, northwest and California. Cost of living is much lower, too.

This is just what was discussed on another thread - moving somewhere without getting jobs first. No need to get into that again..

To your questions..
Our friend's daughter just graduated from nursing school and got a job. I know that she said there was a lot of competition for that job, so she was very happy she got it. I think there are nursing jobs out there, but probably a lot of competition for them. You may find one, but it might not be the money you want, or the position you would prefer -but its a job.

I know a couple HVAC guys and they are both pretty busy, but not busy enough that they are looking to add someone. I don't know about the HVAC job market overall.

I suggest he start contacting HVAC contractors in the area and see if they are hiring. The phone book is full of them.
Same for the nursing jobs, except I would probably not look in the HVAC section of the phone book. :-)
Good luck!
