Now that we've decided to rent (thank God!) instead of buy right away, I need help to try to figure out exactly where to focus our rental home search. My main concern is that I have 2 daughters, one will be a freshman when we move and the other will be going into 7th grade. I've read the reports online about the area school districts. They're all so similar in their state "grade", it's hard to decide. My dilemma: When we decide the time is right to buy a home, we don't want to move school districts. Do any of you have personal experience with Sevier County schools? I'm not set on Sevier County, but that's where a lot of homes that meet our needs, happen to be. I'm open to suggestions, obviously.

What we want, ultimately, is to buy a home with a few acres (Big Daddy wants to be able to hop in his dune buggy - think 70's cartoon - with a stogie hanging out of his mouth, "shootin" his pellet gun at trees ), so we can step outside and not worry about offending neighbors with loud heavy metal, Johnny Cash, or Beethoven...whatever music mood we're in... but close enough to "town" so we don't have to drive 30 minutes for fuel or grocery shopping. Country, with mountain views, yet convenient to the city. Traffic issues are not a concern, as he is moving from Honolulu, so is very used to traffic.

Like I said, my concern right now is deciding which school district to focus our rental search in, to next be able to focus our home purchase search in.

Thank you so much.

From what I can gather Knox County, Maryville City and Oak Ridge have the best schools.

Sevier doesn't seem outstanding. GreatSchools.org Search: sevier
