I just recently accepted a job off of North Broadway. I will be starting January 3rd, so I need to get an apartment. My wife and I looked at Derby Run in Farragut and liked them, but what about those apartments that are around walker springs (I think that is the name of that area). How are the schools in that area? We have a daughter who would be starting school this coming year. Any info on apartments in West Knox would be great. Out budget would be 600 to the high 800's.

Thanks

Just out of curiosity, if your job is in North Knoxville, why are you looking out in Farragut? If your husband will be commuting during regular work hours, the rush hour traffic can get pretty thick.

Otherwise, if you're set on Farragut or the Walker Springs areas, the schools are good, and pretty much any apartment complex will be good.

I guess the maim reason for wanting to be in West Knoxville is our families are in Chattanooga. It would make our drive back a little quicker. I would not rule out a place like Foutain City. Overall I am more concerned with great schools and a safe apartment complex.

The drive from Fountain City to West Knox is 10 - 15 minutes. So unless you will be driving to Chattanooga a lot, it seems to me that it makes more sense to live closer to work.

10 - 15 minutes each way, twice a day = 20 - 30 minutes/day. If you went to Chattanooga once a month, you would spend 20 - 30 minutes per day X 20 days versus 20 - 30 minutes extra to drive the extra distance ONE time.

Not to mention if there are any accidents...Don't get me wrong. Knoxville is not DC, NYC or LA. Traffic is not bad at all. But why give yourself that headache? Do yourself a favor and look into Steeplechase Apartments. Your daughter can start school at Sterchi Elementary. There is a waiting list for children that live outside its zone to go there. It's that good. (This is after I just got done giving someone a lecture on how all of our schools are the same. Oh, the hypocrisy! Actually, they are all good.) Or better yet, come down and drive around the area. Lots of great homes to rent and for a better price.

Obviously some are "gooder" than others?

Well everyone, bringing the wife up today so she can look at the areas. Hopefully making a decision today. Can't wait to get settled in Knoxville.
