Last night before watching the Boomsday fireworks we went to the Downtown Grille and Brewery.

Knoxville's Downtown Grill & Brewery

The food was good, many options for all tastes, and the service was nice too. The restaurant was really noisy, but it was super crowded so thats to be expected. We had a 30 min wait to get seated which wasnt bad since we stood outside on the sidewalk and people watched.

This is a fun place to go even if you're not eating. They are two bars and upstairs they have pool tables and foosball tables.

After the fireworks we got stuck in a parking garage due to the grid-locking traffic leaving the event. After sitting in the same space for 10 mins we decided we were thirsty and a dessert sounded good. We pulled right back into the same space and walked over to Market Sq. It was around 10:45 and most places were closed or only serving drinks, no food. I realize that places were probably just following their Sunday schedules, but it is Boomsday so it seems to me more places would have stayed open. There were others walking around trying to find food as well.

We walked back over to Gay St and ended up back at the Downtown Grille and Brewery. They have a late night menu and were more than happy to serve us. They were getting a ton of business which was well deserved for having a better schedule to accommodate event goers. We had great desserts and drinks.

I'd highly recommend this place if you travel downtown.

Funny you mentioned the dessert thing. After the fireworks, a few years ago, we went to Market Square and everything was closed, too. People were mulling around looking into the closed restaurants. I would have thought that by now someone would have capitalized on this. Most folks don't have to work the next day.

Downtown Grill is always loud, it seems. I think it is the building with the open area in the middle that goes past the second floor to the roof. I think the food is run-of-the-mill but okay. Nothing bad, no surprises. And the atmosphere seems to always be festive. I think me and the kid went there one mother's day.

That settles it! Next Boomsday you and I are going to set up a food stand on Market Sq after the show!

Wake up restaurants! People are hungry after the show and want somewhere to go! There are people from out of town in the hotels!

Agreed on all points. The food was good, not outstanding, but not bad and everyone left happy. Thats a win in my book. My family arent really adventurous with food and I want them to be happy when they visit Knoxville, and me.

I agree about the room creating the noise level and the festive mood. It was quite lively and busy. Its a fun environment to go and relax and enjoy.

My daughter and I love it there. It's old school Italian-American.

Another outstanding meal last night at Bravo. It may be a chain but it feels like much more. Their dipping sauce is prepared fresh daily (it is divine) and their filet is amazing.

Never been to Bravo. I always forget about it!

Went to Cheesecake Factory, Thursday night. I thought the food was good. I got the fish and chips. Fish was good, coleslaw was divine. Great mochachino. We sat outside and it was fine for about 10 minutes and then it got really cold so we asked to go inside. Since it was getting late, our waiter was able to oblige. However, once we sat down he told us that we could get our check or switch servers if we wanted dessert. ugh. So I took the check, since he was so helpful and I wanted him to get the tip. So we didn't get any of those luscious looking desserts. He gave us two very small boxes so we had to pick and choose what we wanted to take home. To add insult to injury, the fish didn't travel well, which is typical of anything battered.

I told my daughter that next time, I'll order a couple of desserts to go and skip the meal.
