That is exactly the kind of town I am looking for. From what I can tell houses are decently priced right?

We do have several factories in Morristown, along with your regular retail and restaurants. Decent sized mall that has nowhere near the empty spaces Knoxville Center does.
You have your option of living in town- the historic homes are gorgeous- within walking distance of medical services and such or like we do, out in the country but minutes away from either Morristown or Jefferson City.
No, Morristown isn't a bustling metropolis (thank God) but it is a nice little town that offers everything a person would need to have a good life. People still smile at you when they hold doors open for you and will meet your eye and ask how you're doing when you pass in the street or in a store.
The other part to this tale is we have ONE mall that isn't doing that great, partially because it is on the side of town that isn't booming. The side closest to Morristown. There is suppose to be a shopping complex built in Sevier but that's been in the works for years. What you purposely left off is we have a larger booming mall and Turkey Creek, a very large open-air complex and of course numerous other shopping complexes.

Look, I understand you live in Morristown and want to defend it but most people don't go out of their way to move there. You made Knoxville sound like a dying city when it isn't. And for crying out loud, you just wrote another post about how you have to drive to Knoxville to get your medication, almost an hour away.

OP, you should take a trip up and see what you like. If Knoxville isn't your thing then there are other lovely towns in the area. I'm from a small town, too, but Knoxville is more like a very large town and I would never live in Morristown.

Nooooo I didn't say Knoxville was a dying city. I did state a fact- Knoxville Center mall is a dying mall and several spaces are empty. College Square Mall doesn't have many empty spaces. A fact. Period.

"The side closest to Morristown" Um... yeah. Sure. It's closer to Morristown than the West Town Mall area, or Turkey Creek. It's what... thirty minutes or so from Morristown to Knoxville Center? Fifteen minutes from KC to West Town? I seriously doubt the proximity of KC to the Hamblen/Jefferson County area has ANYTHING to do with the mall's demise. Oh yeah, I guess it's the fact that it's fifteen minutes more to the west part of Knoxville is what has 'saved' West Town from us evil folks in Morristown.*insert rolling eyes emoticon here*

Yes, Knoxville does have more shopping than Morristown. If that's your thing, then great. It's not something I enjoy. I do, however, like a town where I can get what I need and get in and out without traffic snarls and such.

I don't *have* to drive to Knoxville to get our meds. As a matter of fact, we used to have them all filled right here- or in Jefferson City- at WalMart and never had a problem. When we discovered the discount program at Sams Club, we switched. Well, DUH, wouldn't anyone? If it costs ten bucks to drive a bit farther and save a hundred I bet anyone would do it, anytime.

Everyone has their opinion about what is important to them in the area they choose to live. And that's ok. You prefer Knoxville, I don't. There is nothing wrong with that.

I posted nothing that should have set anyone on the defensive.

Yep. If you are looking for acreage then it's a bit lower than Jefferson County and certain areas of Knox County. Other than that, houses are pretty reasonable- both for rental or purchase.

That's good
Where I grew up the closest mall was several hours away and I had never been to one. When I first moved to TN I was fascinated by a mall, lol!

Last time I was in Morristown there were quite a few empty spots in the mall and the shopping area next to Wal-Mart across the street. Morristown is a dying town, just my opinion.

It is a VERY quiet town though, if that's what your looking for and have found a job there then you'll probably be very happy with the move. If you ever need more shopping options your only about an 1hr-1 1/2 hrs outside of Knox as well, so it's not overly inconvenient from that perspective.

Good luck

Must have been a while ago.... there are no open spaces in the WalMart shopping center nor in the center next to it. I can't comment on the mall as malls just aren't my thing.

IIRC, the centers have a mattress store, mexican restaurant, dental place, Little Caesars and Great Clips. The freestanding restaurants are Ruby Tuesday, Zaxbys and Ihop. Sally Beauty, a chinese place, pizza place, shoe store and clothing store. Then the WalMart of course. The other center has Hobby
Lobby, Pier 1, Dollar Tree and Ross.
I think that's all, lol.
