Does anyone have a recommendation for a Knoxville area (willing to go to Maryville) landscape designer? Thanks in advance.

Go to UT gardens and ask. It's free.
On Tuesday, Sept. 19, there will be walks through the UT Gardens led by staff members.
Times are 12 Noon for lunchtime and 6pm for twilight.
Get your questions answered, see what's doing well in the gardens and enjoy the weather.

Knoxgarden,

Thanks. Are the gardens open tomorrow Tuesday, 9/18 or Wednesday, 9/19? Also, I am looking for a master design plan for our 1.2 acre yard. Are they able to do this? Any info appreciated.

Thanks!

The gardens are open during daylight hours. They are trial gardens for plants and also a major training ground for horticulture students.
University of Tennessee Trial Gardens
They wouldn't do the work, but can recommend graduates or steer you to the best place to find someone.
Or you can take a class and learn how to do it yourself or at least get some background in deciding what you want to do. UT offers a course in home landscape design in their personal and professional development series.

Or talk to the instructor of that class.
I've taken several courses of this type at UT and have found them to be excellent. Being part of a group asking questions is so helpful and you can learn from the experience and ideas of others.
It always helps to know what needs to be done and can be done, even if you hire someone else to do the final design or work.

Caron Beard has a design/build firm out of Friendsville. Michael Versen is a LA in Blount county. I suspect they mostly do commercial jobs, but might know designers to recommend. Pope's garden center can give you some names. Native Gardens in Grrenback would likely know a native plant designer. Their # is 858-0220.
