Hello there, I have posted before about moving from San Antonio to Oak Ridge/Knoxville area.

My husband and I are flying out Saturday and staying till late Monday night. (Job interview Monday morning). Is there anything we should check out that is going on this weekend? We have little time but I want to get as much experience as possible. Sunday we are going with a realtor to look at homes but that is all we have planned. Thank you very much for any input.

Oh, how is the weather right now?

Well, I can speak about the weather.

We are still in a drought, but that won't affect you.

Finally, today, the skies cleared. The smog is gone! Woo-hoo!

The weekend looks like it will be clear and cool. Look for mid to low 70s during the day, and low 50s to high 40s at night.

I won't give you my opinion about the wisdom of moving to Oak Ridge. I assume you know about the town.

This is what I think about that.

People hear what they want to hear. Tell them the bad and they don't believe you. Tell them the good and they are disappointed, once they find out for themselves.

We've been told that children have to find out the hard way. I think the same holds true for adults, too, after being on this forum for a year.

In the long run, people will find their own way.

Hik, you rock!

Maxamom, since you are looking at homes Sunday with a realtor I would suggest just spending any extra time driving around and trying to mingle with the locals. There is a huge game this Saturday night and folks will be a bit pre-occupied with that.

Don't be alarmed at all of the people wearing orange, cars with orange flags and I would suggest that you don't wear Blue and Orange, just orange and khaki this weekend, LOL. Have fun here!!

It's pretty simple, really.

Do a google search for "Oak Ridge" and then make sure you google the latest news.

Check the history, the facts regarding the pollution and contamination, and the fact that Oak Ridge will be the largest and sole site for all of the country's enriched uranium.

You've done that already, right?
