I non't think it is RIGHT next to the convenience store, but it may be too close for your taste. Some people like being close to stores, bus routes, greenways etc.

Some of her comments make me think it would not be suited for the OP. She'd probably consider it an "iffy" area. It's kind of hard to have both unless you are in Bearden but those houses have "yucky" basements. Sheesh.

Back on the subject - there are some beautiful, almost new homes in Holston Hills, on the far east side near or overlooking the river.

It is right next to the convenience store. Behind it actually, with the store facing Broadway. As I said, I have a friend that lives a few houses up from there. She loves the neighborhood. But it is a community that isn't a cookie-cutter HOA-rule-filled subdivision. In fact it is about as far from that as possible. Not everyone that walks around that area is rich or even middle class. For some that might be considered "yucky" but for my friend and several others it is a great place to live. I'll add that she is a nationally-known professional.

Ooops, I was wrong. I was thinking it was another one because the house by the gas station doen't look that big from the street. But looks can be deceiving with the old houses. They did put up a massive privacy fence.
