Was at a book lecture and signing Tuesday night for the book "The Girls of Atomic City: The Untold Story of the Women Who Helped Win World War II" by Denise Kiernan. It was held in the auditorium of the science museum in Oak Ridge and it was standing room only. The book which is about Oak Ridge was released this month and has just made the NY Times Best Seller List. The author (lives in Asheville, NC), and who is on a book tour, will be on Jon Stewart next week to talk about it.

Some of the women in the book still live in Oak Ridge.

I remember seeing a program about them on cable TV. I think it was the history channel, but not sure about that. It was a fascinating story of what they did, about the tight security and Oak Ridges role in the building of the bomb.
