I am wondering what are the good fishing areas in the smokies near Gatlinburg and Townsend areas?
Is there any suggestions and/or recommendations regarding this?

I guess the people that know all the good fishing spots want to keep them to themselves!

We live in Northern MS so I have no advice to offer!

The Little River between Gatlinburg and Townsend, Pigeon River in Greenbriar near Ramsey Cascades Trailhead, Porters Creek in Greenbriar, The Little River along Little River Trail at Elkmont, Big Creek near Big Creek Campground, North Carolina, and Deep Creek near Bryson City, NC.

Check out the Little River Outfitters page. They have a fishing report.

I fished these streams for years...and miss it dearly. The best place is on the right hand side just as you enter the park from Gatlinburg. That area is stocked and you can actually catch some decent sized rainbow trout. The same is true on the other side of the park as you enter it from Townsend. On that side, I would venture about 2-3 miles below the "Y." I also had luck at Abrams Falls, which is in the Cades Cove loop and requires a hike to get there. Also, Cherokee North Carolina has a nice river stocked with trout. The key is to find the stocked areas or you'll be left catching a few red-eyed bass suckerfish, and small cutthroat trout. Check fishing regs!
