We listed our home for the second time in 2 years and after one week we got a full price offer! I feel like we're waiting for the other shoe to drop...we signed a contract today and are waiting for our buyers to sign. We've been waiting so long for this move. It's been delayed by the housing slump and now, around here, it's a seller's market and we got the house ready to the max for a quick sale.
I'm a little overwhelmed by the extent of the task ahead of us, moving our 3 cars, 4 motorcycles, enormous garage full of stuff, 2800 sq ft houseful of furn, 3 pets, and 86 year old MIL from northern CA to the Knoxville area. Whew! Where in the world do we start?? My biggest fear is that we will not find a rental that will suit our need for a 3 car garage, that will also take our pets. If that happens then we will end up buying and we will be stuck with no way to move in until a loan can be approved and processed. OMG, it's finally happening....

I am thrilled for you! You've been on this forum and wanting to move here for a very long time. These things have a way of working out in their own time. I think for most of us there was a period of waiting followed by things moving rather quickly. It happened in my case, anyway. Congrats and welcome home!

Shadow,

Things all happen in their own time, you'll be here before you know and all those details will fall into place. That is how it happened for Bill and I.
Welcome home!!!
Pam

Just a suggestion - when we moved all our stuff here, with no actual house in place, we rented a huge "Boat or RV" sized storage space. We had all our furniture and a trailer holding our riding mower, and lots of stuff from the garage in it. It was out in the county, and was I think about 15 X 40 and very tall, for about $100 a month. A big room, with a garage type door, just like the storage places that are usually much smaller. You could rent a space like that for your extra cars and not worry about finding a rental that probably isn't easy to find. Good luck with your move, and welcome to Tennessee!

Well, the contract is signed by all and we are sort of reeling at the prospect of how much we have to do to accomplish the move. So we are on our way and will be there in about 45 days!

Awesome news, congrats. Have you thought of renting one of those storage containers? I havent used one, but they sound like a good idea for things you wont be using for awhile. I think you load it at your home, and they take it by train to a storage place. Dont quote me, but something to check out.

We moved from Ca. to Mo. and it took two trips and two rental trucks. It was just my son and I, so he went on one trip by himself, then both of us did the final one. He loves to drive and stopped and saw the sites. lol Good luck and hope the house goes through. I had the 1st deal fall though, so ended up selling after I had moved. It was a big ol' pain, had to fax a million papers back and forth.
