If I had the room, I bet I'd be that bad. I wonder what makes us do that?

Here in the Tri-Cities we are not on any type of water restrictions but we have been asked to conserve as well. We have city water but my parents have a well in Hawkins Co. Thier well is still good but they are also close to the river which might be helping. I have not heard of any local wells having issues, but that doesn't mean it hasn't happened.
As for the food stock pile.....if for some reason you all want that taken care of, I'll just send over my 2 teenage boys and poof! Watch it disappear. I'd love to be able to keep enough food in the house for a full two weeks. I do not like shopping so I try and try to load up to last as long as possible so I don't have to shop as often...doesn't happen LOL!

Thank y'all for the reports! We are thinking a well since we really don't like city water and what they do to it. I know that where we are there is almost never a report of a well gone dry since we are in an aquifer that is 220ft deep and would hope it's the same way there. As for conserving, we just got chided by our septic guy for not using enough water to flush the system properly.

I used to think that my parents kept the fruit cellar full of 6 months worth of canned goods, potatoes, apples, etc. because they grew up during the depression. They wanted to be sure there was always something there, just in case...

But, now that I, too, am a hoarder, I believe it has more to do with our natural instinct of hunting, gathering and storing while we have a plentiful source.

Our remote ancestors had to store up food for the winter or during drought periods. Scientists have shown that humans naturally gain weight during the early winter months just like other animals to provide stores of fat for the cold, lean months. I bet most of us blame it on the holidays! Doesn't hold water in February, folks!
