Please I need the average monthly utility costs for a 3 bedroom apartment, townhouse, condo, mobile home, and single family dwelling in the Knoxville, TN area. Plus any deposits to have the utilities hooked up. Also any for rent listings would be helpful. We are wanting to move in March 2014.

It really depends on the zip code, since there are several different utility companies, and they all have a different policy.
Here are a few.
KUB - Knoxville Utility Board - in some parts of Knoxville, they handle everything (gas, water, sewer). Home
I'm in Karns and we have: KUB for gas, West Knox Utility Welcome to www.wkud.org - Search Results for "wkud.org" for water, and Lenoir City Electric for power. lcub.org
Here is some more..
First Utility District
Hallsdale-Powell Utility District > Home
Knox Chapman Utility District

The costs can be all over the place too depending on how old the place is, how old the HVAC units are, how well they are insulated, your lifestyle. Getting costs here really may not mean much because all of the variables.

For instance, my mother would frequently have a gas bill twice the size of mine, and her condo is a third the size of my house. She kept her thermostat set high, and used her gas logs all the time. One of her neighbors traveled with his job. If you compared the two identical condos, the difference would be huge.

Default Thank you.

I will check out the sites you mentioned. We haven't gone down there yet to get a place yet so it would be hard to figure which company we would need.

Here's a link for you....
City of Knoxville - Utilities Info

Anyway, I live in a brand new 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment (I'm the first resident).
Just received my electric and water bills:
Electric is 161.00, water is 65.00, and cable is 192.00.
I'm pretty sure I had to put a deposit on water service, just can't remember the amount.

Hope this helps!

My electric bill last month in a 1 bedroom apartment was $113.00. Thank goodness winter is almost over and better weather is coming. It's the highest monthly bill I've had in two years here.

Wow, I'm pretty different.

I have a two-bedroom apartment, over 1,100 square feet. We have six lights on 24 hours a day, as well as two laptops. I have a very large flat screen as well as a small one for my daughter and one more non-flat screen tv.

My heating bill, last month, was 116.00, the highest since I've lived here and that's been 15 months. Usually they are about $100 in the summer and winter, $50, maybe $60 in the fall and summer, which is about six full months altogether.

Bear in mind that I am on the top floor, I keep it very warm in the winter but it doesn't take much effort. However, it is hotter in the summer and the air seems to run full-blast.

I pay $175 for high-speed internet, all digital cable channels including HD and Showtime.

No water and sewer bills.

I LOVE my apartment!

Both of those prices are promotional. Your high-speed will go up to $50 after a year. That Dish package will go up to $70 at the end of the year. Take away the free DVR upgrade, add in the cost of Showtime, plus I'm getting more channels and that price is out the door, taxes, fees, etc. Your satellite package requires a 2-year contract but you'll only get that price for a year. Try to early terminate and they'll hit you with cancellation fees. Not trying to one-up you but when these companies break it down to promo prices it sounds dirt cheap but once you consider what it really costs or without the promo price, it is much higher.

This person wants a realistic scenario of what it could cost and I gave it to her. As you know, I've worked in the telecom business and I know how they work.

Oh, and I just realized when I was giving the electric rates I should add that I have a washer and dryer - and of course dishwasher - that I run a lot. I have a teen daughter.

Hiknapster,
What company do you go thru for internet/cable? Also, I hear the internet speed is far better in Chattanooga any talk of having the same "stuff" get to Knoxville?
